How it works

An upstream gas field: four well pads, a compressor station, a tank battery and a custody transfer meter run with its check meter in series. 121 registers across eight flow computers, over Enron Modbus.

A marginal well loads up with liquid and dies. A gas well carries its produced water up the tubing as mist, but only while the gas moves fast enough; below the Turner critical velocity the droplets fall back and stand in the tubing. That column is weight, so bottomhole pressure rises, and inflow goes as the square of the pressure difference, so rate falls, so velocity falls further. The well spirals from 570 to about 120 Mcf/d and nothing alarms, because it is flowing the whole way. The tell is the casing-to-tubing spread, which separates from 6 psi to nearly 400.

Elsewhere the sales meter quietly loses its zero, and because AGA-3 makes flow go as the square root of differential pressure a small error in inches of water is about half that on volume, in one direction, on every hour the gas is invoiced against. A flare pilot goes out while gas is still routed to the stack. A separator dump valve sticks shut and liquid carries over into the gas leg.

One cheap fault becomes an expensive one with nothing linking them: a loading well slugs, the slugs arrive at the tank battery two miles downstream, and the separator floods with no fault injected there at all.

The solution configures Litmus Edge itself on startup: eight DeviceHub devices, four Digital Twin models across eight instances, and four Analytics groups. It removes exactly what it created.
