A passenger and light-truck tire plant from the mixing room to final finish: two Banbury mixers, two tread extruders, a ply calender, two tire builders, a bank of six curing presses and final inspection. Nine Allen-Bradley controllers on one ControlLogix chassis, 357 tags over EtherNet/IP.
It is batch, continuous and discrete in one material flow. How well a compound was mixed is a batch property, carried by a green tire into the cure, and the press never learns which compound it holds. Litmus Edge joins the two.
